Stars James McAvoy, Gillian Anderson, Forest Whitaker and Kerry Washington all attended the UK premiere of The Last King of Scotland, launching the London Fim Festival. Forest Whitaker, who arrived with his wife Keisha, has been tipped for an Oscar for his lead role as the late Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. James McAvoy - seen with his girlfriend, actress Anne Marie Duff - plays a Scottish doctor who becomes entangled with Amin. He plans to go back to Africa for the Red Cross. Guest Thandie Newton recently won the best supporting actress Bafta for her role in Crash. Singer and telelvision presenter Cilla Black arrived with companion John Madjeski, the chairman of Reading football club. Shakespeare In Love star Joseph Fiennes arrived at the premiere with model Maria Dolores. The King of Scotland is released in the UK on 12 January.
