Until now, driving an all-terrain scooter meant having to use handlebar-type controls. Beamer - a Wiltshire-based company - has now addressed this. The joystick can also be connected by cable and operated by an assistant. A mobile sensory unit - enabling people with a variety of disabilities to control their environment with sound effects, music, lights and aromas - has been created by Brecon Coachworks and Mike Ayres Designs. CG Lock were showing a device that increases the stability given by a standard inertia reel seatbelt. It was originally designed for performance cars but.... ....the company has found the device to be very popular among disabled drivers to whom it gives greater lateral support. The company says the CG-Lock gives you about 80% of the holding power of a full race harness. Veteran disabled flyer, Steve Slade, had his fixed-wing microlight at the show to inspire other disabled people to take to the skies. Steve - who is paraplegic - has had the machine fitted with hand controls.
