Police at Edinburgh Airport

The massive security operation at UK airports has affected thousands of people using Edinburgh Airport, with flights delayed and cancelled.

The Anderson family

Neil Anderson, from Oregon, with his wife Kathy and children Craig and Kerri. Mr Anderson said: "The kids are very upset but safety is paramount."

Ellen Purves

Ellen Purves, from Bonnyrigg, said her flight to the East Midlands had been delayed for several hours. She said: "Its all quite frightening but we are trying to accept the situation."

Bill Hill

Bill Hill, from Edinburgh, was waiting to get on his flight to Birmingham. He said: "I am here to tough it out. I'm going to hang on rather than leave and give up."

Lisa Murray

Lisa Murray, from Australia, said: "I have never seen anything like this. I am annoyed that I haven't been told anything, it's all concerning but I'm hoping for the best."

Alison Harvey

Alison Harvey, from Stirling, was worried about missing her cruise ship holiday. She said: "Now we are just trying to see if there is an alternative way to meet our ship."

Diane McCafferty

Diane McCafferty, from Stirling, was concerned about entertaining her child on a flight to Lanzarote. She said: "We are bored and fed-up and just hoping we board soon."
