In pictures: Miners' rescue

Two Australian miners - Todd Russell and Brant Webb - have been rescued from a mine in Tasmania after being trapped for two weeks deep underground.

Mr Russell (left) and Mr Webb (centre) appeared in good health, and were able to walk away unaided after their ordeal.

The pair moved their safety tags to '"safe" as they came out.

The miners waved from ambulances to well-wishers as they received treatment.

Relatives were on hand to greet them as they appeared.

They were met at a local hospital by the cheering crowds and given a clean bill of health just a few hours later.

Mr Russell later attended the funeral of Larry Knight, a miner who died in the initial accident on 25 April, caused when an earth tremor dislodged rocks.

Hundreds of mourners were present at the funeral service at St John's Anglican Church in Launceston.

Members of the God's Squad motorcycle group, including a man riding Mr Knight's own bike, accompanied the hearse.

The rescue of the two miners was a reward for two tough weeks that ended with rescuers burrowing through intensely hard rock.
