Fans were keen to pay their respects at the New York memorial for soul and gospel singer Luther Vandross, who died last Friday aged 54. Singers Alicia Keys and Patti LaBelle were in attendance to celebrate his life. Soul star Aretha Franklin laid a rose on his gold coffin. The Reverend Jesse Jackson attended the service at New York's Riverside Church. Usher, an unidentified woman, pianist Donnie Harper and Alicia Keys and Patti Labelle performed. Acclaimed singer Dionne Warwick was also there to pay her respects. Singing legend Stevie Wonder sang a gospel song, I Won't Complain. Luther Vandross died two years after suffering a stroke. He won eight Grammys and enjoyed chart success throughout his career.
