The tornado left a trail of destruction across the US states of Indiana and Kentucky. Eastbrook Mobile Home Park in Evansville, Indiana, bore the brunt of its force. Many residents died as their mobile homes were smashed by the high winds. From the air, the tornado's path could be clearly seen. In neighbouring Kentucky, Ellis Park racetrack was badly damaged, its grandstand wrecked. Stables and other buildings were destroyed, and several horses were killed. Many survivors were stunned by the destructive power of the high winds. Others were quick to begin clearing up in its wake.
