The BP refinery in Texas City caught fire after an explosion on Wednesday.

Fire crews raced to the scene of the blast at one of America's biggest refineries.

They managed to isolate the flames to a unit used to upgrade the quality of petrol.

The unit itself was reduced to charred rubble.

Refinery employees feared the worst for some of their fellow workers.

The death toll was at least 14 with more than 100 injured.
