The hospital entrance is designed to make it look like a ship. The colourful reception represents the four wards beyond: Ocean, Land, Sky and Space. The reception's Fish Tree is a giant artwork with 360 steel fish. As well as colour, the reception also has music playing and an acquarium of exotic fish. Each ward has its own floor pattern to help patients recognise where they are. This is the 'root' system for Land Ward. And this, with a deep blue colour, is the 'water' pattern for Ocean Ward on the ground floor. A corridor sign explains how the signs relate to the wards. Sister Pat Thomas shows off the new four-bedded units on the wards.
