The world has been paying tribute to Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal who died at his home on Tuesday aged 96.

Friends and admirers joined Mr Wiesenthal's family for a memorial service at Vienna's Central Cemetery on Wednesday.

His daughter Pauline Kreisberg had flown in from Israel to join the mourners.

Politicians were among those who remembered his tireless work tracking down perpetrators of the Holocaust.

Simon Wiesenthal has been described as the "conscience of the Holocaust" and a champion in the fight to bring to justice the some of 20th Century's worst criminals.

Ariel Muzicant, the head of Vienna's Jewish community, said Mr Wiesenthal "is here and he always will be... For my generation, he was a teacher, a mentor".

Simon Wiesenthal's body will be flown to Israel for burial on Friday.
