Four artists have been shortlisted for the BP Portrait Award. Head Full of Smiles is from Devon artist Fergus Mayhew. The picture shortlisted is of his mother, Bunty. The winner is announced on 21 June.
Louise Tiplady by Paul Harris (oil on canvas)

Herefordshire-based artist Paul Harris is shortlisted for a picture of his business partner Louise Tiplady. The pictures are on show at National Portrait Gallery from 17 June.
Self-portrait by Sara Shamma (oil on canvas)

Sara Shamma is a Syrian artist who is nominated for a self-portrait. She is a graduate of the Adham Ismail academy and Damascus University. She has exhibited across the world, including Canada, Europe and the Middle East.
The Miracle by Stephen Shankland (oil on board)
4 of 4
Scottish artist Stephen Shankland painted a portrait of his wife Kelly and son Connor - he entitled it The Miracle because Connor was born premature in 2003. Mr Shankland studied at Grays School of Art, he was in the BP Portrait Award in 1999.
