An ICM survey for BBC News Online suggests that voters are happy with the benefits of the budget for families but a majority felt that not enough had been done for pensioners.

A detailed breakdown of the survey results can be seen below.

ICM interviewed 1032 adults aged 18+ by telephone and via the Internet between the 8th and 10th March 2001. Interviews were conducted across the country and the results have been weighted to the profile of all adults.

Q.2 Do you think you and your family are likely to be better off or worse off as a result, of the Budget or will it really make no difference?
Q.3 The government targeted most of its tax cuts at families and pensioners. Do you agree with that approach, or would you have preferred a more general reduction in tax rates or something else entirely?
Q.4 The Budget froze duties on petrol and cut duties on ultra-low sulphur petrol by 2p a litre. Do you think the government should have...?
Q.5 Overall, would you say that you are satisfied or dissatisfied with the job Gordon Brown is doing as Chancellor of the Exchequer?
Q.6 The chancellor gave away more in tax cuts than to public services. Do you agree or disagree with this approach?
Q.7 Did the Government give too much, too little or just enough to Pensioners?
Q.8 Did the Government give too much, too little or just enough to Families with children?
Q.9 Did the Government give too much, too little or just enough to Families with no children?
Q.10 Did the Government give too much, too little or just enough to Single people?
