Speaking to the BBC's Today programme the day after the Budget, Gordon Brown says he will not follow a policy of "irresponsible pre-election tax cuts", as the Tories pledge to match spending in his Budget giveaway.
Mr Brown says the economy has, under Labour, reached a "hard-won stability" which will be a foundation for building prosperity for all. The BBC's John Pienaar reports.
