Strong winds made it difficult to walk along Blackpool seafront in Lancashire. Winds of up to 90mph hit north-east England and caused several accidents. This lorry overturned in Newcastle. Drivers were stranded on flooded roads in Northumberland. Flood water submerged a car park in Carlisle, Cumbria, as rescue workers helped residents. These people had to pick their way past the debris of a Blackpool shop front which was damaged by the storm. A man was taken to hospital after a tree fell on his home in Dromore, County Down. The floods made this street in Peebles, Scottish Borders, look more like a waterway than a road. This subway was completely filled with water as Carlisle was cut off by flooding.
