Dementia 2010 report report estimates 821, 884 people in the UK live with dementia, costing the economy £23 billion a year.

There are 600,000 unpaid dementia carers in the UK. Alzheimer's society has advice on what to expect if you or someone you know has the condition.

Currently there is no cure. The Alzheimer's Research Trust is investigating ways to prevent and treat the condition.
