US President Barack Obama met the Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai at the White House on Friday.
Mr Obama said the US had committed $73m (£44m) to Zimbabwe, but that the aid would not be given via the Zimbabwean government, because of continuing concerns about human rights in the country.
