Life at Cairo's camel market

The BBC has been visiting markets around the world to find out how the global recession is hitting ordinary shoppers and traders.

Ahmad Muhammad al-Sharif works at one of the world's biggest camel markets on the outskirts of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Around 75% of the camels are sold for meat, the rest are used for transport across the harsh deserts in the region.
