Anniversary of Soviet Afghan withdrawal

Russian officials and army veterans are marking 20 years since the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

For 10 years thousands of troops of the former Red Army unsuccessfully tried to occupy the country and defeat Mujahadeen fighters.
