BBC Radio 4: Crossing Continents: Malaysia

BBC Radio 4's Crossing Continents looks at the divide among races in Malaysia and speaks to the new generation of Malaysians pushing for more equality after decades of a system of racial preferences.

Reporter Mukul Devichand spoke to Sue Nasar, 26, a Malay Muslim. She lives in Kuala Lumpur with her husband. Religion is important to her: "In the Quran if I'm not mistaken, the only difference from one man to another is his virtue," she says. "You can't actually judge people based on their race." "I don't think Islam makes that distinction."
