Hurricane Paloma has strengthened to a Category Three storm, with winds of up to 185km/h lashing the Cayman Islands.
Residents of the Caymans, Cuba and Jamaica have all been put on alert as the storm is expected to strengthen as it moves towards Cuba's southern coast.
