Church plans new restoration work

St Thomas Church was built in 1884

Campaigners fundraising for the restoration of a Jersey church are hoping to raise �80,000 for the next stage of the project.

The Friends of St Thomas are hoping to start work on the outside of St Thomas Catholic church in St Helier after a recent interior facelift.

The group says it is aiming to raise money for work on the church which can be enjoyed by everyone.

The group has also joined the Association of Jersey Charities.

About �500,000 of restoration work has been carried out so far on the church, which was built in 1884.

It has included installing new heating, lighting and audio systems.

The organ has been repaired and the church's five bells, which had been silent for many years, have been refurbished.
