Island short of football referees
More referees are needed to officiate at football matches in Jersey, the sport's ruling body has said.

The Jersey Football Association (JFA) has issued an appeal to islanders to help with the shortage.

The association said although some young people were currently being trained, more were needed.

Paul Creedon, JFA chief executive, said former players, supporters or anyone good at managing people could become football referees.

"Even if they're from another sport and want to get involved in football, if they know the rules and have good man-management skills, they'll have all the attributes to become a good referee," he said.
