Rescue centres actively treat greyhounds left by the racing industry |
A Jersey charity is preparing to look after three more badly treated greyhounds which are arriving on the island this week. The animal charity Greyhound Rescue takes in the dogs that are dumped after their career in racing comes to an end.
The centre in St Brelade is constantly raising funds to pay for the animals' treatment and upkeep.
Gail Hickmott from the sanctuary said the vets bills are going to be high as two of the dogs are in such a bad way.
An open day is being held on Sunday between 1100 GMT and 1600 GMT for anyone who wants to contribute or sponsor a dog.
