Households in Jersey are being advised to contact a qualified pest controller if they want to remove seagulls nesting on their roofs. The Environment Department said gulls were due to start nesting soon and it has warned people not to feed them.
Some choose sheltered positions between chimney pots or against an air vent.
The department is also advising people to contact their parish hall if a neighbour or someone else is seen feeding gulls regularly.
Gulls often return to the same nesting sites and people who had one on their property last year are being told to contact a pest controller for suggestions on how to prevent nesting or perching before the gulls return.
People are also being advised not to feed them or leave out food that might attract them.
