Liberation policing costs 97,000
Queen in Jersey for Liberation Day
The Queen joined in Liberation Day celebrations during her visit
The cost of policing Jersey's Liberation Day celebrations has been revealed as almost 97,000.

The money was spent on extra police officers to monitor the Queen's visit and the rest of the celebrations which were held on Monday.

More than 120 officers were on duty during the streets, controlling the crowds and traffic.

Chief Police Officer Graham Power said costs were reduced thanks to the work of the honorary [volunteer] force.

During their visit, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh met veterans of the island's occupation during World War II, as well as those who served in the liberation forces.
