The National Trust wants to lease land to wildlife lovers
The National Trust for Jersey is looking for islanders who would like to help encourage more wildlife and insects to the area.

A project will be started at four fields surrounding the charity's headquarters at the Elms in St Mary.

The land is currently leased by the States and used to trial different crops. But the lease ends in December.

The Trust wants to find tenants to take on the land and grass it over so more wildlife and insects will breed there.

The charity has already approached the island's Organic Association, but anyone may apply to be involved.

Lands Manager Jon Horn says, although they are looking for some profit to go back into the Trust's funds, the rent for tenants who take over the lease from January next year will be set at a favourable rate.
