Jersey could get private hospital
Jersey General Hospital
The proposed site is near the General Hospital
Plans for a private hospital in Jersey which could benefit island residents, should be investigated, according to a States politician.

A private company wants to develop the site of the Stafford Hotel with public and private funding.

Senator Paul Le Claire thinks Jersey's migration policy could bring new, wealthy people to the island, who will expect private health care services.

He wants a scrutiny panel to look at how the facilities could be of benefit.

The panel would also investigate how a new operating theatre could be used by both the private and public sectors.

The site at Kensington Place in St Helier is near the General Hospital.
