Party looks to streamline States
Jersey's new Centre Party has unveiled proposals to abolish the island's Social Security Department.

The party is suggesting it could be axed to save money as its duties could be split between other departments.

Under the proposals, social security payments would be collected by the Income Tax Department with other duties devolved to the Health Department.

It believes this would remove potential duplication between departments and make considerable financial savings.
