Island puts culture plan on hold
Jersey will not sign up yet to an agreement which aims to stop the trade in stolen and illegally removed cultural objects.

The UK is being asked to ratify a United Nations treaty which would fight the illegal trade in looted art.

Jersey's Policy Department, customs officers and the Heritage Trust say there would need to be extra resources to compile a cultural inventory.

They recommended looking at it again at a later date.

The UN move follows the widespread looting of artefacts from Iraq.
