Emeraude Ferries provided the group with free travel |
Nearly 50 pupils from a Jersey school for children with learning difficulties have set off for France. Taxi drivers have taken the children from Mont a L'Abbe School to the Aquarium in St Malo.
The trip was organised by taxi driver Bob Marie, who has arranged many similar journeys around Jersey.
But this outing was different as the children travelled to France, courtesy of free travel with ferry company Emeraude.
Inflatable dolphin
Forty-three children, 20 taxi drivers and more than 20 teachers and helpers made the trip.
The drivers have raised more than 900 through sponsorship to cover the costs of the trip.
The children set off at 0900 BST, but the bad weather persuaded organisers to shorten the trip to ensure they could get back to the island by ferry.
The taxis had ribbons and balloons attached to them and organiser Mr Marie had an inflatable dolphin strapped to the roof of his vehicle.
