 Deputy Crespel says many parents share his concerns |
An island politician is questioning the way sex education is taught in Jersey schools. Deputy David Crespel says he is worried it is promoting under-age sex, rather than teaching pupils not to have sex until they reach the age of 16.
He fears it could undermine the law and endanger teenagers' sexual health.
Mr Crespel is also questioning the guidelines on giving abortions and the morning-after-pill to children under the age of consent.
He claims many people in the island share his concerns.
Mr Crespel said: "I appreciate it's a sensitive subject, but nevertheless it should be of concern to politicians and parents.
"Certainly from the reaction I've had it's definitely of serious concern to parents."
