States will continue plan debate
A plan to preserve Jersey's economy and stabilise its population is one of the subjects up for debate in the States.

Members began working on the Strategic Plan last week, but did not have time to finish it.

The plan is Policy and Resources' attempt to look ahead and find ways to look after all aspects of island life.

Also up for discussion on Tuesday are the draft Data Protection Law which will bring the island into line with international practice.

The States has plans for the economy which are closely linked to the population.

The intention to have an extra 500 working people to pay more tax has been criticised by those concerned about the effect it would have on housing and the environment.

The matter of how the inquiry into the bus system will run will be discussed, after the first members of the committee resigned.
