The group argues the island will not be able to cope with the increase

The group, Concern, says the island's Strategic Plan allows up to 500 people to arrive in Jersey every year until 2010.

But the group claims the island is unable to cope with that number.

Concern has written to all States members in advance of a debate on the Strategic Plan later this week.

The Plan sets out a list of objectives for the States to achieve by 2010.

One of them, maintaining a sustainable population, calls for measures to prevent the working population growing by more than 1% a year.
