It is now possible to get legal help in civil disputes in Jersey without having to go through the courts. An advocate from an island law firm has become one of the island's first qualified mediators.
Until now civil disagreements between businesses and individual parties in Jersey have been dealt with by a lengthy and expensive court process.
Now David Cadin from island firm Bedell Cristin is one of a small group of lawyers carrying out mediation.
They are able to draw up a legally binding agreement to resolve civil matters without taking up court time.
Legal mediators have been used extensively in the UK for the last four years but until now the service has not been available in Jersey.
It could take as little as 24 hours to resolve disputes without the need for litigation.
