Extra patrols are being put on by staff at Jersey's La Moye Golf Club after incidents of vandalism.

Two greens have been vandalised and equipment has been broken.

The club says the trouble started soon after the island's schools broke up for the Easter holidays and the damage runs into thousands of pounds.

As well as the patrols, staff have been collecting bunker rakes, flag poles, tee markers and golf balls from the driving range every evening.

Youths witnessed

The 11th and 13th greens at the club were damaged by vandals last Wednesday.

The police say the 11th was damaged again at the weekend. Sand rakes were snapped in half and golf balls stolen from the driving range.

Officers say it is alleged five youths were seen in the area during one of the incidents and are appealing for witnesses.

The club said the damage ran into hundreds of pounds and meant parts of the greens cannot be used by members.
