It is becoming more difficult for outsiders to get a job in Jersey, according to a States report. The island has strict housing laws which allow only local people, or people who have lived there for more than 15 years, to qualify.
Some exceptions are made, but in the past six years the proportion of people from outside the island receiving permission to work has dropped by 5%.
It is expected the numbers will continue to fall.
The report also shows mail order and internet sales continue to be a growing source of employment for locally qualified people.
