The new community centre will include a lift for disabled access
Work to extend a community centre in the Jersey parish of St Peter is due to get under way.

Constable Tom De Feu will ceremonially start the project on Tuesday afternoon.

The estimated cost of the extension to the community centre is about 500,000.

Plans have been in the pipeline for three years, while funds were raised by parishioners and charity groups.

The centre next to St Peter's parish hall caters for 700 people a week.

When complete, it should include youth activity rooms, showers and changing rooms, a lift for disabled people and public toilets.
