Smoke-free trial for Jersey bars
A man smoking
Both venues will run the trial during April
A Jersey bar and a restaurant are to join a number of other businesses by banning smoking, after a survey showed it would be good for business.

The Museum Brasserie and the Original Wine Bar are banning smoking for a trial period.

Following a customer survey, the lower part of the Bath Street wine bar will be non-smoking on weekday afternoons.

About 95% of customers at the Museum Brasserie said they would like the restaurant to ban smoking at lunchtime.

Its owners are making the interior of the restaurant smoke-free Monday to Friday between 1000 and 1700.

Both venues, which are part of the Goodbars group, will run the trial during April and see how it is received by customers.

Last year the States approved plans in principle for smoking to be banned in restaurants and cafes, but rejected proposals to include pubs and nightclubs in the ban.
