A former delivery driver and a mechanic are among seven people who have changed careers to become Jersey Police Force's newest recruits.

The seven are being sworn in at a ceremony in Jersey's Royal Court on Friday.

Next week the new recruits are going to Ashford in Kent for two months of training.

Alistair Bould, a former manager, says he joined to give his family and the community a safer environment.

Father's footsteps

Nick Mooney is a former freelance sound technician with a private pilot's licence, while George Cubbin is a former delivery driver and warehouse manager who goes to night school to improve his computer skills.

Former car salesman David Turnbull said he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps by joining the force.

Tony Knowles was a security expert for a large UK company who is fulfilling his lifelong ambition to join the police.

Former mechanic Robert McIntosh is bringing his past experience in the Army to his new job.

And Paul Moisan, an ex-plant operator at Jersey's Ronez quarry, is also a worker at Jersey's Maufant youth club.
