Demand from islanders for a horse-drawn hearse has encouraged a funeral director to bring one to Jersey. The carriage, made more than a century ago, is the only one of its type.
It is being blessed by the Dean of Jersey at Samares Manor on Thursday afternoon.
Andy Rennel, from Pitcher and Le Quesne funeral directors, said people were interested in having a Victorian-style funeral.
Brass lamps
He said the new hearse was "very grand".
"It has bevelled windows and is extremely tall compared to a lot of carriages," he said.
"It has big brass lamps on the side and big black drapes and plumes.
"The horses are greys provided by local coachmaster Ivor Barrett."
