Town centenier suspended
A town centenier has been suspended from Jersey's Honorary Police Service.

Chris Gray failed to report for duty because of a year-long dispute with the Parish Constable.

Centenier Gray has been in dispute with Constable Simon Crowcroft since the resignation of Ted Gallichan as Chef de Police last February.

After 17 years of service with the Honorary Police, Centenier Gray believed he was entitled to take on the position and had asked the Constable for the matter to be taken to the Royal Court.

Centenier Gray said the Constable questioned his commitment to the parish and the Honorary service, and that was why he had decided not to report for duty on Friday.

The Constable has so far been unavailable for comment.

The Professional Standards Department of the States of Jersey Police has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
