Jersey's Employment and Social Security Committee will discuss reaction to plans for a minimum wage in the island.

Plans are for a wages to be no lower than 5.08 per hour - a figure announced by the employment forum in January.

Employers, unions and other interested parties were asked to contact the department with their thoughts.

Also on the agenda on Thursday are the latest unemployment figures in the island.

In previous months, Jersey's jobless total has risen and now stands at just over 750.

The committee will also look into asking the UK's Centre for Research into Social Policy to take part in a review of plans for an income support system in the island.
