Hope for depot workers
Six people made redundant at the Ann Street brewery depot in St Helier have been offered the chance to work in other areas of CI Traders.

The six lost their jobs when the company announced it was moving its distribution activities.

Ann Street Freetraders, which is part of CI Traders, is moving some of its business from the brewery to a warehouse in Longueville Road.

Paul Smith, chief executive of CI Trading Hospitality, said it was more efficient to base operations there rather than in town.

He said: "Although the job cuts are sad, the company will keep its competitive edge, providing stability for other employees."

The six people affected have been asked to apply for jobs elsewhere in CI Traders, but they are not guaranteed positions.

Mr Smith said those taking redundancy are being given a normal redundancy settlement.

The Ann Street site, where beer has been brewed since 1871, is earmarked for housing in the States Island Plan although Ann Street's brewing works remain in St Helier.
