Children at a Jersey school had to postpone their Christmas party because of a gas leak. Pupils at Springfield School were taken to safety after a caretaker smelled gas in the toilet area on Tuesday morning.
When the alarm was raised, the 170 pupils were taken to safety at the nearby Springfield Stadium to wait for their parents.
It was later believed that the gas was coming from outside the building, but engineers from Jersey Gas were working to find the exact cause.
A fire engine was put on standby for about an hour while the gas company tried to find the source of the leak.
Jersey Gas says it wanted to sort out the problem within a day so the children could have their party on Wednesday.
