It is hoped homeless people in Jersey will benefit from more frequent visits by outreach workers.

The charity Homeless Outreach is planning to increase visits this winter.

Homeless outreach workers tend to go out during the evening or at night, especially during the winter.

But the charity's new co-ordinator, Laura Strickland, wants to extend the charity's work and visit homeless people during the day as well.

She says it is easier for staff and volunteers to give homeless people advice during the day by helping them get in touch with various agencies that offer financial support.

It is hoped the scheme will be operating early next year on a weekly basis, but the charity says it needs more volunteers.
