Education board election planned
Geoff Cannell
Geoff Cannell was a member of the Board of Education
An election is to take place in December to fill the vacant seat on the Manx Board of Education following the death of Geoff Cannell.

Mr Cannell, who represented the Douglas West constituency for five years, died in September at the age of 65.

Elections are usually held every five years but the current board's term has been extended to June 2009 during which time a new bill will be introduced.

Mr Cannell, a sports broadcaster and former MHK, was also a school governor.
