The National Holocaust Memorial Service will take place at St George's Church in Douglas in line with similar commemorations in the UK.

The event has taken place on the island every year since 2001.

The government said people on the island should mark the day as a reflection of its own "long and proud tradition of parliamentary democracy".

It is estimated that 6m Jews were killed by the Nazis during the war.

Holocaust Memorial Day was established in 1999 to create a memorial to those who lost their lives during the persecutions.

The ceremony will also remember the Holocaust's other victims, including homosexuals, the disabled and those races regarded as inferior under Nazi ideology.
