 The switch-over will start in 2008 |
The Isle of Man is to be the first nation in the British Isles to switch over fully from analogue to digital television, it has been announced. The Communications Commission confirmed it would take place on the island and across the Border ITV region in 2008.
The formal switchover on the English-Scottish borders will take place within three years and the rest of the UK will follow by 2012.
More than 60% of people on the island have digital TV through satellite.
Communications Commission Director, Anthony Hewitt, said: "This is welcome confirmation of the broad programme for switchover.
"Digital television will bring a new range of choice to viewers on the Island. TV reception and services will be enhanced."
