Island is magic for star gazing

Sark is one of the best places in the world to gaze at the stars, according to a world-famous travel book.

The Lonely Planet Guide has ranked the tiny Channel Island alongside Stonehenge and the Caribbean as one of the top locations for sky-watching.

With a high plateau of granite, few houses and no street lights or cars, cycling Sark's lanes by moonlight was a "magical experience", it said.

A lack of lights meant there was little to interfere with nature's display.
