Britain's highest military honour, the Victoria Cross, has been the subject of a lecture in Guernsey. The medal is the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
More than 1,300 people have been honoured with the Victoria Cross, although only 12 medals have been awarded since the end of World War II.
The Babbay Le Pelley Tostevin lecture was given by Lt Col Mike Martin.
The guest speaker, who has researched and led tours on military matters for more than 20 years, included the story of the five men with Guernsey connections who had received the medal.
The lunchtime lecture was held at the Duke of Richmond Hotel in St Peter Port.
