Business, population and housing will be discussed by the States |
Guernsey's Housing Minister is calling for empty buildings to be converted into residential accommodation. Deputy Dave Jones says many sites in St Peter Port originally began as homes before being turned into offices.
He is responding to concerns which have been voiced that new offices are being built when many others remain empty.
Mr Jones claims there is no reason why the unused buildings in the island cannot be converted back into accommodation instead.
He believes growing co-operation between States departments could help find some of the answers.
Under the island's new system of government, coherent strategies on the expansion of business and its effects on population and housing will be discussed for the first time.
